Nicola Kerr Counselling
I am an experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor. Before I started working in private practice in 2013, I worked at Hope's Place in the centre of Bristol for several years, firstly as a Counsellor and then as Counselling Manager. This Agency provided counselling support for family related issues and relationship breakdown, as well as bereavement counselling for baby loss. I have worked alongside clients, both individuals and couples, from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.

As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. Strict client confidentiality is assured. An ethical requirement is that counsellors undertake regular supervision where caseloads are discussed anonymously to ensure good practice. I also undertake regular CPD which is another important aspect of this framework. CPD, or Continuing Professional Development, is the name given to regular, recognised counselling training which enables counsellors to maintain and enhance their skills after completion of their original training.

I recently completed a professional training in the therapeutic use of mindfulness as part of my CPD programme with the British Mindfulness Institute. Mindfulness has been proven to play a positive role in helping to overcome automatic and unhelpful ways of thinking and responding.

The BACP Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
